Prerequisites: This 3-day course is open to veterinarians and certified rehabilitation professionals. Physical therapists, veterinary technicians and physical therapist assistants can register if they have taken Introduction to Canine Rehabilitation.

Course Description: Canine Rehabilitation and Clinical Orthopedics (formerly titled Current Techniques in Canine Orthopedics) provides students with an understanding of advanced orthopedics and sports-related injuries. This course includes in-depth lectures on the most recent advances in canine orthopedics and sports medicine, and the rehabilitation treatment recommended for specific conditions. Instrumentation, implants, and orthopedic devices will be available for demonstration. Gait analysis, orthopedic and rehabilitation examination/palpation, and diagnostic techniques will be demonstrated and practiced in the hands-on wet lab. Actual clinical cases will be used to illustrate certain conditions and treatment techniques. The current treatment options for osteoarthritis will also be discussed.

This course is now RACE approved by the AAVSB. Veterinarians and veterinary technicians will earn 16 continuing education hours for successful completion of this 2-day course. (Note: We expect the number of CE hours to be increased for a 3-day course.)

  • Common Strain Injuries in Performance and Working Dogs (Iliopsoas, Gracillis, Achilles tendon, etc.)
